ICS is a provider agency for the Department on Disability Services (DDS), a Home Health Care Agency under the Department of Health Care Finance - Home Health Agency (DHCF-HHA) and also a Core Service Provider with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH).
Through these three programs, ICS provides services that meet the health, habilitation, social, and educational needs of DC residents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
ICS operates residential care facilities in the District of Columbia to meet the residential, transportation and habilitation needs of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supported Living sites include apartments, single-family residences or townhomes, with a maximum of three (3) persons served in each home.
Direct care services in the In-Home Supports program are designed to provide relief to family members assisting individuals in the person’s home or in a community-based Respite Facility. Respite services can be provided for an annual maximum of 720 hours or 30 days.
Qualified ICS professionals provide training to family members of a person served so they can extend the level of support to their loved one. Some areas of training include communication, community integration, and money management.
ICS screens and selects a Principal Care Provider who can then offer care in his/her home to no more than three (3) persons. Services are related to health, community integration, and other adaptive skills. This may also include accessing professional services to meet the person’s rehabilitative needs.
ICS team members provide direct care services to individuals in their natural homes to meet their community inclusion and habilitation needs. Our goals and objectives are designed to help each person make progress toward independence.
The ICS team includes a behavior support professional (licensed psychologist or social worker) who can help address and manage changes in the psychological and clinical functioning of persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
A certified speech-language pathologist diagnoses disorders, address deficits through therapeutic interventions, and provides supports necessary to improve a person’s communication skills.
Intermittent services provided by a licensed nurse, and designed for the purpose of restoring and maintaining a person’s maximum level of function and health.
Community-based residential services for youth with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are available to those aged 14 through 21. Services are provided in residential facilities, up to a maximum of eight per facility. The youth receive supports with education, behavior and community inclusion.
ICS provides PCAs to meet the staffing needs of home health care patients assigned to DHCF-HHA. PCAs provide direct care services to patients in their natural homes, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Direct care services include assistance with activities of daily living, medical appointments, community activities, etc.
